Cosabella unfolds in the heart of Miami Beach Art Deco April 12, 2014 18:52

THE AURA OF COSABELLA

au•ra- The distinctive atmosphere or quality that seems to surround and be generated by a person, thing, or place.

A supposed emanation surrounding the body of a living creature, viewed as the essence of the individual, and allegedly discernible by...Set inside a mid-century modern home with a wall of glass facing the brackish waters of the intercoastal, The Aura of Cosabella unfolds in the illustrious heart of Miami Beach Art Deco. A blank canvas in the 1920’s, the bright pinks and retro teals of neon lights soon smeared the night sky. Pastel-hued architecture, geometric patterned terrazzo floors and the manifestation of exotic motifs, flora and fauna, opened the door to an inspiration playground. Decades later Miami has evolved into a masterpiece of vibrant culture, whimsical art and luxurious fashion. Awakened by the vivid hues and fine details of her surroundings, the aura of the Cosabella woman is confident, yet playful. She is at ease as the sun peaks through the shadows of lush palm trees, glistening off her skin. From the gentle glow of Iris and Persimmon over the horizon of a warm Florida sunset, to the shimmering Sapphire and Barbados blues of the Caribbean waters. Abstract floral patterns of Annabella and animal print fusions seen in Keri embody her feminine, yet bold persona.

Like the soft cool breeze of Miami Beach, fabrics are light and airy. Shifting from the luster knits and blended microfibers of Fall, into the sheer swiss dot of Erin, ultra-thin cotton elastin of Edge and supple eyelet embroidery of Kristin; all groups represent the flirtatious, carefree aura of Cosabella. Eye popping electric neon hues of the uniquely created Glow, a first of its kind glow in the dark floral lace, allows our woman to stand out in an already eclectic sea of color. As she journeys through this exquisite tropical paradise, each collection is a work of art in itself, sharing a secret story of passion with only those most privileged to see.

Organic Jojoba Oil for Hair April 5, 2013 08:04

Organic Jojoba Oil for Hair

Hair loss, greasy hair or just dry and damaged hair, jojoba oil can definitely help you out. Its versatility and benefits make it one of the most used ingredients in hair and other cosmetics products like shampoos and conditioners since the ban on whaling back in the 60's. Its influence in the cosmetic industry is still growing stronger and stronger. There are multiple reasons why jojoba oil is used so extensively in all kinds of hair products. Below you will find a few reasons to use Jojoba oil for your hair.

It deeply moisturizes your scalp

If you constantly have dull and dry hair, jojoba oil is definitely the way to go. Also, if your hair is weak and brittle, it can also help by strengthening the follicle shaft. Since it’s 100% natural, you can reuse it over and over again without the danger of harsh chemicals further irritating your scalp.

Your scalp needs to be moisturized well just like your skin. Dry scalp is usually mistaken as dandruff, causing flaky and “tight” skin and also severe itching. Using jojoba oil moisturizes your scalp deep down to its pores and doesn’t evaporate, unlike other water-based moisturizers, thus sealing in the moisture. This causes an effective, deep and lasting moisturizing effect and balances the pH levels of your scalp.

It prevents hair from looking greasy or oily

Oily scalp problems are hard to deal with, especially if you have long hair. Most of the products that promise you grease-free hair usually ends up over-drying them instead. Shampooing also doesn’t help, as it dries out your hair and makes it look dull and unhealthy, and conditioning may make your hair greasier than ever. What’s the solution? Jojoba oil helps control the sebum production of the scalp, which was already mentioned in our acne blog. It helps to balance the sebum production in the scalp and helps promote a healthy shine to your hair and also regulates the flow of sebum in clogged pores. This way, it balances the amount of oil on your scalp perfectly.

Jojoba oil prevents and stops hair loss and thinning of hair

Porterspa Organic Jojoba oil helps stimulate and promote new hair growth by encouraging the development of new hair cells and helps improve micro-circulation in the scalp.

Hair loss is actually often caused by blocked hair follicles, which causes it to break off. Hair growth can also be adversely effected if too many pores are clogged with sebum. As stated above, jojoba oil can dissolve and clear these blockages which in turn reduces hair loss. Conditions like psoriasis and scalp dematitis which may cause hair loss can also be treated with jojoba oil because of its antifungal properties.

Below are some tips on how to use jojoba oil for your hair.

Prior to shampooing, add a few drops of jojoba oil to one's hair and then rub it into your scalp. The Longer you leave it in the better the results. However, leave it in for at least 30 minutes or so. Then you can start shampooing with your favorite shampoo product. If your shampoo doesn’t contain jojoba oil already, you can mix it with a teaspoon of jojoba oil and thoroughly but gently scrub it on your scalp and hair. After a few minutes, rinse off carefully with a towel. Do not re-shampoo or it will dry out your hair. For better results, apply one or two drops to your hair after this to get a healthy shine.

Jojoba Oil Treats Acne August 15, 2012 21:59 1 Comment

How jojoba oil effectively treats acne

Acne.  Oh so painful. A prevalent theory to why jojoba oil is so effective in treating acne is because since it is so similar to sebum, it tricks the skin into believing that it has already produced enough. This way, the production of sebum decreases and balances out and so does acne. Over time you will be left with a less oily face, but equally moisturized and protected and more importantly, no further clogging of pores.

Another reason why it treats acne so efficiently is because of its antibacterial properties. It kills the bacteria on the skin that cause acne.

Porterspa Jojoba oil is deep acting and cleanses out your pores, pushing clogged dirt up to the surface. When first used, something called“purging” occurs whereby all the non-inflamed acne like whiteheads are brought to the surface. These will pop naturally, releasing pus, bacteria and dirt. Its soothing property can also calm redness on your skin due to acne.

Here are a few tips if you decide to use jojoba oil to treat your acne.

1. Cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser. This will remove any dirt or oil, promoting the absorption of jojoba oil into the pores.

2. Pet your skin to dry gently and apply jojoba oil immediately after cleansing. Scrubbing too hard might aggravate and further inflame your acne.

3. Use generous amounts of jojoba oil and apply gently to skin. Overusing might cause your face to look shiny.

Continue for a few weeks and you will see tremendous results. Do not get let down by the purging process. Once that passes, you’ll be glad you read this on Porterspa! Also since jojoba oil is natural and chemical free, you can be assured your skin is in good hands. All Porterspa Jojoba Oil is 100% Organic as well.

Olive Oil Soap and it's Benefits August 8, 2012 07:37

In the Middle Ages big blocks of olive oil soap were first crafted in the Mediterranean port city of Marseille with olive oil from local groves, marine ash and sea salted water. The quality of these soaps were immediately famous throughout Europe and in 1688 French law declared that only soaps made according to certain ancient methods could bear the important mark Savon de Marseille. Now the most prized of all soaps in the world, our Savon de Marseille is still crafted by hand, in Marseille, just as it has been for hundreds of years. It takes the Maitre de Savon (soapmaster) two weeks to make Marseille Soap. The purest ingredients are heated for ten days in antique cauldrons. The soapmaster knows just the right moment to pour the mixture into open pits where it slowly hardens. Cut into cubes and stamped, without machines of any kind, the soaps are then set out to dry in the sun and cool winds. Savon de Marseille ("Marseille Soap") is once again being rediscovered for its extraordinary purity, gentle skin care and ecological value. Savon de Marseille is recommended by dermatologists throughout the world for dry or sensitive skin, eczema and other ailments. In France it has been trusted for generations to cleanse everything from linens to little faces. Marseille Soap is totally biodegradable, requires little packaging and its manufacture is environmentally friendly. Authentic Marseille Soap is stamped with its weight in grams - a practice left over from years ago which allowed households to compare prices and plan their inventories. This gram weight is the weight of the soap "frais," or fresh, in the factory. The soap will lose weight as it becomes drier and it will weigh less than the "fresh weight" when you receive it. No soap is "greener." In France they are sold piled high on open-air market tables like produce, wrapped in craft paper. Your Savon de Marseille will be delivered without plastic packaging, carefully wrapped in paper stamped with the famous marks to prove its authenticity.

Dead Sea Salts help Cellulite and Water Retention August 2, 2012 08:16

Dead Sea Salts help Cellulite & Water Retention

My Grandma used to say "Must be Jelly, cause Jam doesn't shake like that!" Not a very kind statement but shocking and funny. When you look in the mirror and see those funny little lines and bumps on your backside, you’re not alone – over 90% of women over the age of 20 (and many of us in our teens as well) have cellulite. If you’ve spent half a paycheck on cream, and it didn’t work. Or you have tried covering it up with bronzer – or worse, a harmful tan – but alas, that didn’t work either.

Cellulite is the result of fatty deposits that have broken through holes in the inner layers of your skin and have risen to the surface, creating a “cottage cheese” dimpling effect on your thighs and buttocks – and sometimes on your tummy and lower back. It’s perfectly normal, and perfectly annoying nonetheless. While diet and exercise can help the condition, bathing in Dead Sea Salts works from the inside out, helping your body rid itself of toxins. The minerals released from the salt help break down deposits of these toxins that get trapped below the skin’s surface, making your skin look smoother.

Dead Sea Salt helps Cellulite & Water Retention

And cellulite. When you look in the mirror and see those funny little lines and bumps on your backside, you’re not alone – over 90% of women over the age of 20 (and many of us in our teens as well) have cellulite. You’ve spent half a paycheck on cream, and it didn’t work. You try and cover it up with bronzer – or worse, a harmful tan – but alas, that didn’t work either.

Dead Sea Salts aids Insomnia

It is estimated that 25% of Americans suffer from insomnia. Prolonged sleep disturbance can leave you feeling tired and run down, which in turn can lead to greater vulnerability to illness and disease. Soaking in a hot bath cleanses and relaxes the body, making it easier to sleep without interruption. To assist with relaxing in order to fall asleep and to remove toxins, Porterspa Dead Sea bath salts and mud treatments can be very beneficial.
