PorterSpa presents its new line of Italian famous Hand painted Majolica pottery.
Majolica is an art form Made in Italy since the Renaissance times dating back to the 14th Century. The name “Majolica” derives from Majorca” in Spain, where Spanish Moors introduced the wares to Italy sailing to Pisa via Majorca in the 14th century Majolica is decorated tin glazed earthenware richly decorated in colors by famous artists. It was worthy of its places in ducal palaces. True majolica from those times has become almost priceless. Majolica is often associated with the cities in Italy that predominated during the Renaissance such as – Florence, Deruta, Gubbio, Impruneta……Deruta became the center for the production of majolica; and still today, the majolica tradition continues as well as in other parts of Italy. This tradition continues today as Italian artisans are inspired by the original Renaissance designs, figures, shapes and colors -- along with their great sense of creativity and style.
